For those who are weary
Sure, it was a gnarly calendar coincidence that in one week, we experienced the hype of Halloween, the day after Halloween crash, the start of Daylight Savings Time with the confusion early darkness brings, and Election Day and its aftermath. The last week has been exhausting - if not brutal - for many.
I’ll be honest and share that the election results don’t align with my values and choices. I’ve been here before and I’ll likely experience disappointment like this again, but I want to acknowledge that for many people, the election outcomes are much more than winning or losing for their candidate. For many people - particularly immigrants, people of color, women, LBGTQ+ individuals, and people at the intersections of these identities - the election outcomes have grave potential to directly jeopardize their safety, their rights, and their futures.
For that reason, I want to hold space for anyone who is weary, overwhelmed, and fearful - in my heart, in my thoughts, and also with the resource of my time and energy. If you are struggling making sense of what happened, if you are scared about what’s to come, if you are in need of someone to brainstorm and strategize what your next steps look like to protect your family or become more active and engaged, I want to be a resource for you. Book a time slot on my calendar. No fees, no sales pitches, no commitments. It’s a no strings attached offer of connection and empathy. Because I think that’s the path forward.
I’ll close this post with some thoughts that are getting me through tougher moments in hopes they help you where you are. Take care of you. Reach out to someone who’s worried. Know you’re not alone.
